About me

The author and her adoptive father.

Out of the clear blue, Diane’s birth father contacted her ten years ago. What has that meant for their lives, and for her birth mother’s family? Understand adoption from the point of view of someone who is adopted, experienced, educated, and has re-unified with her birth families.

Diane Dewey is a Master’s Degree candidate in Mental Health Counseling at Capella University. She brings knowledge to the table and invites you to sit in.

“At its heart…what adoptive parents define as “best practice” – what strengthens and sustains their families—…it is important to listen to the voices of those who have “been there” (Atkinson & Gonet, 2007).

Enjoy the website, and be educated and mindful. Thank you for visiting.
